Slow Family Living on the road

We’re making summer plans Carrie and I and part of those plans include a journey to New Jersey and New York – the motherland for both of us. We’re planning some Slow Family classes up there this summer and we are super excited about it. We are planning it out as I write this.

We’ll be offering our Toddler Class, Adding a Second Child, Being with Babies; How to stay calm, sleep more and build a healthy brain, and, of course, our Slow Family Living workshop.

If you are in New Jersey or in New York and have a moms or parents group that might be interested in one of our offerings, please email us and let us know. Perhaps we can add you to the schedule

Teleclass is slow living

We had our first Slow Family teleclass last night. It was fantastic. We talked about slowing down, connecting and really enjoying family time. We discussed ways to give yourself and your whole family a needed pause – for a minute or a day or an entire weekend. We shared ways to mindfully slow down different portions of the day. We went over the Slow Family Living workbook. Carrie and I both loved it. And judging by the responses, the participants seemed to love it too.

We’re putting a whole slew of teleclasses on the calendar now because it seems like a teleclass can be a real slow way of doing things. There’s no driving or scurrying involved and the format too seems to be cause for a little more pause.

And who doesn’t need a little more pausing in their life?

Girls’ Group – Inspired!

We so enjoyed our babysitting class this February. We were blown away by the love and enthusiasm for the information. All 25 girls were so attentive and so responsive and we just loved having them here.

After this amazing babysitting class last week, a few moms mentioned that they’d like to continue on with a series of classes for girls. We love the idea and have been spurred on to create just a series to which we would like to invite your girls – ages 8-12 .

We have decided to offer the series in a monthly format – meeting here at Carrie’s amazing abode one Friday a month for 4 sessions, taking us through the beginning of June.

These are the topics we will cover…

Gratitudes and Intentions – In this class we’ll discuss the beauties, and the benefits, of recognizing and stating gratitudes for what is really working in our lives. We’ll also help the girls get clear on stating intentions on just how they want to approach things and how they want to feel as they go about their days. We’ll give them tools for making these practices a part of their daily world. We have both had such powerful experiences with this exercise and we can only imagine how great it would have been to have started before we got to our 30s!

Fill your Cup – In this class we’ll cover the benefits of really taking care of ourselves in a way that leaves us feeling healthy, strong, happy and connected. Too often, whether we are 12 or 43, the amount of offerings and invitations can stretch us to the point of exhaustion and overwhelm – and that’s when we get cranky with those with whom we are closest. We’ll discuss with the girls how to check in with their bodies and their emotions and their eating habits in order to assure avoiding the overwhelm. When they leave this class, our hope is that they’ll understand that when we are feeling full – emotionally, physically, mentally – we can connect with those we love and take the world by storm.

What do I need? – In this class we’ll help the girls understand the value of knowing, understanding and getting clear on what they need and putting it out there to the world. Too often, especially as women, we are made to believe that our own needs are either insignificant or that others around us can and should know them without us speaking them. We’ll discuss the importance of asking ourselves the question, “what do I need?” From there we’ll talk about taking care of those needs with a plan or putting it out there to others who can assist them. We’ll show them that when we expect mind reading it can too often lead to disappointment and misinterpretation and a whole heap of bad communication. We’ll help them understand too that while what they need may not come right away, the more clear they are with knowing, asking and planning, the more likely it will be that what they truly need will come their way.  Finally, we’ll guide them in understanding that all relationships with friends, parents, teachers and siblings, can be stronger and more connected when communication is clear.

Money, money, money – Money is a fact of life. In this class we’ll discuss methods for wisely earning, spending, saving, and sharing the money that comes our way. We’ll discuss methods of tracking  income, planning future money goals, and understanding the merits of holding money in the bank, while sharing a little of what comes our way with others. We’ll show them too that earning money does not have to be an arduous task, rather that it can come from doing exactly what we truly love to do.

We will hold the sessions from noon-2:30 one Friday a month for March, April, May and June.

Friday, March 13th

Friday, April 10th

Friday May 8th

And

Friday June 5th

The Benefits of Slowing Down

When you are more resourced you are more present.
When you are more present you are more tuned in to your own needs and
the needs of everyone in the family.
When you are more tuned in to the needs of each individual everyone feels seen.
When everyone feels seen everyone feels safe.
When everyone feels safe there is harmony.
When there is harmony there is more love, more connection, more ease, more fun and more joy.
When there is more love, connection, ease, fun and joy there’s more desire to be together as a family.

Slow Family Living Workshop

**Slow Family Living Workshop: Slow Down, Connect and Enjoy Family Life***

Lots of folks have said how excited they are for the information and ideas presented in the Slow Family Movement. Many of those same folks though, and many others too, have said they want to slow it down, but they don’t know how or where or when to begin. Things are too busy, too crazy, or too chaotic, to even begin the process of slowing down, connecting and enjoying family life the way they truly want to enjoy it.

If ever there was a time though to slow it down, now is it. You can’t turn around without hearing news or conversation or implications of our need to put on the brakes. This one-night workshop will teach you how to slow things down for your own family – emotionally, physically and even financially.

We will cover ways to figure out which aspects of your family life feel too fast, expensive and out of control. We’ll offer some useful tips on reigning it in with both your time and your wallet. We’ll cover the material in our free Slow Family workbook in addition to offering some practical ideas for other methods of beginning your family’s journey into “slowing”.

In this class you can finally find the time for ways you and your family can find more time.
